Located south-west of Dijon, this gap is between the Canal de Bourgogne and a residential building. The place is only frequented by the inhabitants. A promenade runs along the canal, which does not encourage walkers to divert their path. A signal should therefore be installed in this gap to provide a link between the residences in the area and the canal promenade. The particularity of this place is the contrast between the background noise of the isolated residences and the car and tram traffic, which intersects the canal promenade. The gap is defined as a space of emptiness between two elements (at least). My project aims to show that this void is not complete: it contains sound qualities (engine noises, tram bell, bicycle, music of walkers, inaudible voices, water flow, birds, etc.).
To do this, I install in space a surface on which is projected the graphic ballet of sound waves from the environment. This translucent structure is made up of plates of treated glass supported by steel props that act as graduations. Frames are created that echo the regularity of the openings on the façade and allow the integration of the device in front of these windows. It is from dusk onwards that this device exploits its full potential, since the video projectors fixed to the façade do not allow a visible rendering during the day. An LED lighting device complements the engraving work on the glass panel.
